The iPhone is one of the most powerful smartphones ever made. This is because it has a powerful processor and an amazing camera. However, over time, you may notice that your iPhone is not working as well as it used to. This can be due to several reasons, like software corruption or battery failure.
One of the most common problems people have with their iPhones is that they do not charge properly. If you have been experiencing this problem and have no idea how to fix it, we are here to help you out. This guide will discuss some common reasons why your iPhone might not be charging properly and how you can fix them.
How to Fix iPhone 12 Wireless Charging Not Working?
Get the latest software update for your iPhone 12
The first step to take if you face problems with wireless charging is to check whether your phone has received any software updates. To do that, follow these steps:
- Launch the Settings app on your iPhone 12
- Tap on General
- Now, tap on Software Update
If there is any available update, then you should download it immediately and install it on your device.
If you’ve already updated your iPhone to the latest version, and there’s still a problem, try updating the wireless charger. Check to see if there are any updates available for your wireless charger. If there is, then update it and see if it fixes the problem.
Force restart the iPhone 12
If the problem is software-related, force-restarting the device may help. To fix this issue, you need to force restart your iPhone 12 and then try to use your wireless charger again. To force restart your iPhone 12, follow these steps:
- Press and release the Volume button quickly.
- Press and quickly release the Volume Down key.
- Now press and hold the Side/Power key.
- When the Apple logo appears, make sure to release the Side button.
Check if your wireless charger is plugged in properly
If you’re having trouble charging on a wireless pad or stand, the first thing to check is that the charger is plugged in. If it isn’t, then your iPhone won’t charge. Even if you have an Apple Watch Series 4 with built-in Qi charging, you’ll need to plug it into the wall for power.
If you are using a third-party non-Apple charger, ensure it is certified. Here is the recommended one.
Wipe the back of your iPhone and charging pad
If your iPhone 12 is not charging wirelessly, you can fix the problem by cleaning the surface of your phone and charger. You need to use a microfiber cloth to wipe the back of your phone, then wipe the charging pad thoroughly.
Make sure that there is nothing on the charging pad that may interfere with wireless charging. Suppose you have pets or children who love to play with things; make sure they are nowhere near your charging pad when they are plugged in.
Try another power adapter/charging cable
Apple sells USB-C Power adapters and Lightning cables in both white and black colors (but not red). If you have an older USB-A Power Adapter or Lightning Cable, they won’t work with the 12— they’ll only charge at slower speeds or fail altogether.
If you have an older model iPhone, you might have one of these chargers lying around somewhere (or maybe even more than one), so try using one instead of buying new ones immediately.
If it works with your old device but not with the iPhone 12, then something about your old charger isn’t compatible with newer devices — hopefully, Apple will fix this issue soon!
Take off the iPhone case/cover
There are two different types of wireless charging. The first one is the one you use when you place your phone on a pad, which charges automatically. The second one is the one that requires you to press a button on the charger to start charging.
If your iPhone 12 doesn’t charge wirelessly but charges through a cable, it might be because you have an iPhone case or cover it with a metal backplate.
If this is the case, you must take off your case and try using the wireless charger again. If that doesn’t work, continue reading below for more possible solutions.
To put your iPhone in DFU mode.
1) Connect your iPhone to a power source using its USB cable. Use an AC adapter or wall charger instead of a computer or laptop if you don’t have one.
2) Hold down the Sleep and Wake button on the right side of your phone for 3 seconds until ‘!’, ‘?’ On the screen. The slider will not appear. And slide to the power of prompt at the bottom of the screen. Slide this slider all the way down so that it turns off your phone completely.
3) Hold down both volume buttons on the left side of your phone at once for 10 seconds, and then release them when 10 seconds are up.
4) If your screen turns black, your iPhone is in DFU mode.
Buy a New Wireless Charger
If your current wireless charger seems out of order or no longer working, you can alternatively check out a new charger for your iPhone.
You’ll need more than just a charger to get wireless charging to work on the iPhone 12. You’ll have to ensure that your iPhone is updated to iOS 12.2—if it isn’t, update it immediately. It could just be the cable that is causing your issues.
And if it doesn’t work with the new cable, at least you can rest easy knowing that you tried everything you could to fix the problem before spending a ton of money on repairs or breaking down and contacting a third-party service.
