ASUS has recently launched a photography centric smartphone which was ASUS Zenfone Zoom S with dual rear camera. This device sports 5.5 inch disply and comes with Snapdragon 625 processor.
The device we have got has 64GB Internal storage and comes with 4GB of RAM. Good thing about this smartphone is the battery capacity, Similar to Zenfone Max this device carries 5,000 mAh battery which helps you to keep running device for little more time than other smartphone with low battery capacity. We have chance to get our hands on the Zenfone Zoom S device and in this article, we will share our opinion, pros and cons that we thing about this smartphone.
ASUS ZenFone Zoom S Details & Spec
Overview
This device seems good to hold and light weight at first impression. Its metal body and on the front side, it holds camera, earpiece, sensors and capacitive buttons at the bottom.
On the back side of this smartphone, you get dual rear camera with dual-tone flash on the top left corner. You will get square rounded fingerprint sensor at the center of upper part. At the bottom, you will see ASUS branding on the back side.
On the right side of this smartphone, you will see lock button at the bottom and just above that there are volume rocker buttons to increase or decrease the volume.
On the left side, you will see SIM card & memory card tray. You can eject the SIM card tray using SIM ejector pin. You can check out below image to see how it looks like.
At the bottom of this smartphone, you will see speaker grille, 3.5 mm earphone jack, mic & USB Type-C port to charge this smartphone.
Display
If we talk about the display of this Zenfone Zoom S, it’s powered by 5.5 inch AMOLED panel with Full HD resolution. Also it sports 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 screen. It has good viewing angle and responsive to touches smoothly. There is no physical home button on the device, but you can configure it to wake up when you double tap on the screen. Also on side of the body of this smartphone, you will see shiny metal band running around it.

Camera
If we talk about the camera of Zoom S device, it comes with dual rear camera that has 12MP with f/1.7 aperture and a Sony IMX362 sensor. We have tried recording full HD video using this device upto 20-25 minute, it shows camera has stopped error and we have lost the created recording. However it was just for testing purpose, but still if you are planning to record long video using this smartphone, make sure you have backup camera as well.

Rear camera can be able to zom upto 2.3 x optical zoom and 12x total zoon while front-facing selfie camera comes with the 13MP Sony IMX214 sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
Hardware & Storage
If we talk about the hardware side of this smartphone, this device got Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHZ & coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with 4GB RAM & 64GB internal storage memory that can be expandable upto 2TB memory. Out of 64GB internal memory, user available memory is around 50GB approx. Do you think, you need more storage than this? If yes, you can set microSD card in the hybrid SIM tray in case you need more storage.
This thing is combined with 5000 mAh battery, so you can expect this smartphone to run for 1 or more than 1 day on moderate usage in single charge.
Software & performance
Zenfone Zoom S device which we have got was loaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat with ZenUI 4.0 version. We tried fingerprint scanner on this device and it seems faster as expected. Also we have seen no lag on moderate gaming & does not heat. But we felt it heated when shooting video from this device.
Connectivity & Battery
If we talk about connectivity of this device, this smartphone is Dual SIM 4G smartphone. Just like other smartphones, you will get WiFi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm earphone jack, USB Type-C port. It has loaded with 5000 mAh non-removable battery so you can expect this device run upto more than 1 day in single charge.

This smartphone has good camera, processor and display. As we discussed, its camera-centric smartphone and comes with optical zoom. But price-tag if on lower side, might help this device to stay in the competition.
