This is no news that Samsung has found immense success in its Galaxy M and A series of smartphones. The two lines have sold countlessly in Asian countries, especially in the Indian mobile market. The South Korean giant is clearly looking to capitalize on the momentum by launching the Samsung Galaxy M40.
Expanding the Galaxy M series will hopefully help Samsung increase its market share in the Asian smartphone markets. The Galaxy M40 is an upper mid-range smartphone with key features being its Infinity-O display, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset, and a triple camera setup at the back of the device.
The Samsung Galaxy M40 features a sleek design and has a shiny color palette. The smartphone will feature a 6.3-inch PLS display with a punch hole on the top left corner for the selfie snapper. The selfie camera has 16 MP resolution. You will also notice that there is no cutout or notch present for a traditional earpiece. That is because the M40 features Screen sound technology which turns the display into a loudspeaker.
The device will be powered by a Snapdragon 675 SoC (System on a Chip). The SD 675 is a mid-range, but fairly powerful chipset released by Qualcomm this year. The SD675 will work with 6 GB of RAM which is more than enough for a large variety of applications. The smartphone will come with 128 GB of internal storage which can be expanded to up to 512 GB.
More About Samsung Galaxy M40
Not impressed yet? Well, there is still more to come. The Samsung Galaxy M40 features a triple camera setup which will surely produce great images. The main 32 MP camera is supported by an 8 MP ultra-wide sensor and a 5 MP depth sensor. The camera is capable of shooting 4K videos and record at up to 240 fps Super slo-mos. The LED flash is placed below the vertical island that houses the camera. On the upper mid area of the smartphone is a fingerprint sensor too.
All these cool features will be powered by a 3,500 mAh battery which is capable of 15W fast charging. The port for transferring data and charging this handset is USB Type-C. The M40 will come out of the box with Android Pie with Samsung’s OneUI skin on top.
Other cool features include support for Dolby Atmos, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC. Surprisingly, the headphone jack is not present on this new smartphone. So, only wireless speakers will do the job.
If you have been following Samsung’s recent movements, you will notice that these specs sound familiar. That is because a similarly-spec’d smartphone by the name of Galaxy A60 was launched in China recently. It seems like the international markets will know this smartphone as the M40.
The Samsung Galaxy M40 has a price tag of $288 (INR 19,990) in India. From 18 June, it will be available in popular online retailers including Amazon, Pricebaba, and Flipkart. Pricing and availability in other international smartphone markets are still not revealed by the company.
