The OnePlus 6T has been an incredibly successful flagship smartphone by OnePlus and it also was the first in the series to come without a headphone jack. The community had mixed views regarding the decision to remove the headphone jack in its latest flagship. Recent case renders of the upcoming OnePlus 7 showed that it will also come without a headphone jack. However, new case renders for the upcoming flagship reveal a cutout for a 3.5mm headphone jack next to the charging port. Confused? We are too!
Many believe that the newly surfaced case renders are of the OP 7 smartphone which is expected to be the base variant in the series. On the top edge of the case, there is a rectangular cutout which is probably there for the popup selfie camera. A small round-shaped cutout beside the selfie camera cutout is present which will probably be there for the microphone.
The rear edge of the smartphone case is the main point of interest here. The edge on this case is different from the one whose renders surfaced earlier. The rear edge of the case has cutouts for an external speaker, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type C charging port.
There is also a large cutout at the back of the case for the camera setup. It is clear that the smartphone will come with a triple-lens camera set up at the back. We are guessing that the OnePlus 7 will feature a headphone jack but the other two top-tier variants will come without it. At this point, however, it is anyone’s guess as the company itself hasn’t officially revealed any details about the new flagship series yet.
Due to the immense success of the OnePlus X series smartphones – especially the 6T –, the mobile news community has given a lot of attention to the upcoming OnePlus 7 series too. A recently published leak claimed that the OnePlus 7 series will include at least three main models: the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, and 7 Pro 5G. Further details about the design and specifications of these smartphones have not been revealed by any official or unofficial source yet.
However, based on the market’s standing, we can make an educated guess about some specifications of the OP 7 smartphones. It is being speculated that the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7 Pro 5G will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset under their hoods. The only major difference in the specification of these two smartphones will probably be that the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G will come with an X50 5G modem for 5G network support.
There is no evidence that the OnePlus 7 – the expected base variant – will feature the Snapdragon 855 SoC. It could be entirely possible that the OP 7 model will come with a less powerful chipset. If that is true, we can be sure that the smartphone will be offered with a much cheaper price tag than its other two siblings.
