Redmi is ready to launch another “flagship killer” smartphone in the global market and has dubbed it as Xiaomi Redmi K20 Demon King. The K20 is believed to be the successor of the Redmi Pocophone F1 due to reasons we will discuss later in this article. Xiaomi officially teased the upcoming smartphone on its official Weibo account a few days ago. In the latest leak, a new render of the smartphone’s back has been posted.
The official teaser shows the K20’s backside but in a much more cinematic way. The peculiar color scheme of the device is reportedly named “Flame Red” by the company. We can see in the teaser that the Xiaomi Redmi K20 has a triple camera setup, which was highly anticipated. However, we can’t really confirm if the smartphone has a glass back or a plastic one. The surface does shine but that could be due to the color scheme too.
Right after the teaser was released, My Smart Price – a popular tech news outlet – posted a leaked render of the device. The leaked render has the exact same details at the back along with the same Flame Red color scheme. The leaked image brings us up close to the device and we can easily observe the triple camera set up at the back.
Moreover, the camera setup is placed vertically at the upper-mid section of the body. Redmi’s branding can be found below the camera which wasn’t too clear in the official teaser. The leaked image also lets us take a close look at the branding.
The Xiaomi Redmi K20 will reportedly feature an AMOLED display of 6.39 inches. The new flagship killer is not expected to come with a punch hole or any other notch. This immediately leads us to believe that a popup mechanism will be used for the front camera. The front camera itself will reportedly be a 20 MP sensor. Also, the display will be protected by Gorilla Glass 6 and will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.
All these features show that Xiaomi has created the K20 to rival the latest OnePlus 7 Pro flagship smartphone which is currently generating a lot of revenue for OnePlus. We also believe this to be true because before Xiaomi released the official teaser, it posted an image on its Weibo account which congratulated OnePlus for the OP 7 Pro and sent regards from the “Flagship Killer 2.0”. This has led all of the tech community to believe that the Xiaomi Redmi K20 is created for the sole purpose of defeating OnePlus 7 Pro’s success.
Furthermore, the K20 demon king will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. The SD 855 will be drawing its power from a 4,000 mAh battery. The smartphone will be available with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of non-expandable storage. We are expecting the storage technology to be UFS 2.0 or 3.0. Xiaomi will officially announce the smartphone on 28 May 2019.
