Google has done a great job in incrementally improving the original Google Pixel smartphone over the years. The company has brought the Pixel series to a global stoplight. Google Pixel has become a favorite for rumor mills and leaksters in the smartphone industry. This is why so many rumors and leaks related to the upcoming Google Pixel 4 are surfacing recently. The latest leak we are about to discuss contains renders of the Pixel 4.

Just a few hours ago, a batch of hands-on images of the upcoming Pixel phone surfaced on the internet. The smartphone prototype had two cameras at the rear and two selfie snappers on the front. This led us to believe that Google will be opting in for a punch hole display this time around. However, the fresh renders that have just popped up tell a completely different story.

The smartphones shown by the latest leak are very similar to the iPhone 2019’s alleged design that has caused some quite a stir in the industry. This design is extremely unique mainly because the rear camera is not a linear island anymore. Instead, the alleged Google Pixel 4 features a single square island on the top left corner of its back.

This island is quite huge and attracts all the attention as soon as you look at the images. The interesting thing is that the positioning of the island is also similar to what Apple is allegedly doing. Could this just be a prank? Or are Google and Apple about to launch similarly-designed flagships this year?

One thing is very clear: an island this large must at least house two cameras if not three. Although three cameras at the back would be nice, we know for sure that it won’t come with a single camera and that’s good enough for a lot of fans.

Another missing component here is the fingerprint scanner from the back of the device. This hints to the fact that Google might be integrating an under-display fingerprint reader in the upcoming Google Pixel 4. The leaked renders have no sign of the headphone jack, which doesn’t come as a surprise to us.

Two speaker grilles on the bottom edge can be seen with a USB jack in the middle. The Pixel 4 will most probably feature a USB Type-C port rather than the mini USB one. This also points to the possibility that a front-facing speaker might not be featured in the upcoming flagship.

The earpiece’s position is way too far from the top edge which suggests that the large notch is still there. This notch in the Pixel XL received some criticism but Google could redeem its reputation if it featured a 3D facial recognition system like the Apple Face ID which would require all that space for its various sensors.

Apart from that, the renders reveal no more information about the upcoming flagship smartphone by Google. Hopefully, the Google Pixel 4 is not far down the road and we’ll know about it pretty soon.
