Zenfone Laser 2 Design
When you look at first sight, you’d be hard-pressed to name which phone this is. Similar to Zenfone Delux 2, it has volume button on back side along with flash.
Zenfone 2 Laser has 5 inch display along with three touch capacitive buttons at the bottom of the screen to assist basic menu navigation. Below those buttons, there is shining aluminum plate that is found in almost all new devices launched by ASUS. On the front side there is front facing camera to capture selfies.
Unlike other smartphone, there is no volume button at the side of phone but volume control has moved to the rear pf the phone. At the top, you will find power button to switch on/off or restart your device.
On back side, it’s gently curved that easily fits well in the hand. Volume key on the back side fits and sits on perfect side that is very good to see in look. At first sight, you may be confused where is volume key, but it is placed at perfect place where it should be.
Zenfone Laser 2 Software
Regarding zenfone laser 2 device, you will have latest Android 5.0.2 & also it brings with it same bloatware ridden software that we’ve become used to. Zen UI.
Unlike usual android notification on lockscreeen, on Zenfone device, you will see pinned three applications to a quick launch bar.You will also see time and date on the homescreen along with weather and widget. You can also launch variety of application from phone dialer like chrome or any other apps you set. Even you can configure gesture for specific application from locked screen.
On App drawer screen, you can zoom in and zoom out and apps icon in app drawer will become small or larger depending on your selection.
Zenfone 2 laser Performance
Zenfone laser 2 device comes with Snapdragon 410 quad core processor with four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.2Ghz each. The Adreno 306 GPU paired along provides graphic capabilities. Laser 2 device comes with 2GB RAM that is quite good for multitasking as well as better gaming experience.
Since this is budget device, higher amount of RAM will increase budget of device and current RAM is perfect. Using this device for a week, we have found that this is more than satisfactory performance than other device.
ASUS Zenfone Laser Camera
Laser 2 device comes with Toshiba sensor, 5p Largan lens and a laser autofocus module work in tandem to give the phone it’s photography capabilities. Captured photos from device does have quite decent shots with noise levels that tend to be on the higher side. Photos taken are very sharp along with better contrast level.
The laser 2 Device autofocus is quite impressive and being able to acquire a focus lock in 0.3 seconds. Images quality are also very good nice and sharp even in budget phone.
Connectivity & Storage Options in Zenfone Laser 2
In terms of storing capacity and connectivity, Zenfone 2 Laser comes with 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It has 16 GB inbuilt storage but there is only 11 GB of memory available. However you can expand your memory using external SD card. Additionally OTG cable for USB will also supported on this device, means that you can also connect any USB drive on your smartphone to copy data and move it to computer or transfer data from phone to other device.
Battery
Battery life of this zenphone device is also quite impressive. It comes with 3000 mAh battery. While testing, we found that phone ran a looped video for around 8 hours and even it has extended with gaming and browsing. In your regular usage you can charge device on alternate day without running out of charge.
It comes with removable battery that is quite good for smartphone users, because non-removable batteries cause problem on boot or restarting device when it hangs.
