The widely rumored Asus ZenFone 6Z flagship smartphone has been spotted on Geekbench’s listings with key specifications on the entry. The model number shown in the Geekbench listing is ASUS_IO1WD. The ZenFone 5 series featured three smartphones named the ZenFone 5Q, ZenFone 5Z, and the ZenFone 5.
The ZenFone 5Q was released as a mid-range smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 636 mobile chipset while the ZenFone 5Z was a top-tier flagship device with the Snapdragon 845 SoC under the hood. The Geekbench listing shows that the new Asus smartphone probably is the successor to the ZenFone 5Z which will be named Asus ZenFone 6Z.
The codename for the alleged new Asus ZenFone 6Z powered by the Snapdragon 855 is “msmnile” according to the listing on Geekbench. The Cortex ARM-based chipset by Qualcomm is being supported by 6 GB of RAM which should be more than enough for even highly-intensive applications to run smoothly. The smartphone will be released with the Android version 9.0 (Android Pie) as the stock operating system.
The Geekbench listing also has single-core and multi-core tests registered to the smartphone. According to Geekbench, the alleged Asus ZenFone 6Z has a single-core score of 3,527 while the multi-score test produced a score of 11,190.
If you have been following technology channels and have an idea of the performance of the latest smartphones being powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset, you will understand that these scores are quite impressive and fall in line with what anyone would expect from a smartphone with 6 GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 855.
According to recent news, the Asus_IO1WD smartphone has also earned certifications from the National Communication Commission (NCC) in Taiwan ahead of its launch. The same model also received a certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance earlier this year. The company has confirmed that the Asus ZenFone 6 series will be launched on 16 May 2019. Speculations are being made that the ZenFone 6 series will also feature 3 smartphones, named the Asus ZenFone 6Z, ZenFone 6, and ZenFone 6 Lite.
As per the speculations, the ZenFone 6 Lite will be an entry-level smartphone while the ZenFone 6 will be the midrange smartphone in the series. The ZenFone 6Z is being expected to be the top-tier flagship smartphone in the series. The Asus ZenFone 6Z will probably feature a triple-lens camera setup at the rear. There are rumors that the flagship smartphone will have a punch-hole display design which might also house an in-screen fingerprint sensor.
There have been many rumors about the Asus ZenFone 6Z in recent months, some of them also claimed that the smartphone will feature a sliding-smartphone design. The rumor is not yet confirmed though. We know that there still are about 5-6 weeks before the launch of the ZenFone 6 series. While a lot of our doubts and questions will be answered on the release date, we can also expect more details to surface in between.
