It looks like Fire is turning to Ice as Amazon prepares to release a new Android phone that won’t be like the last one, which is good news for gamers and Google fans.
We’re sure most people remember the Fire phone, but if you don’t, that’s not a problem, because this phone was a serious flop. The Fire although an Android powered device, didn’t have the official Google Play app and this was a series flaw. Reports however are suggesting that the company is working on a new kind of Android device that this time will have complete Google support.
The new Amazon Ice phone isn’t going into competition with the iPhone or other Android phones. Instead, it is going to target the entry-level markets, especially those in India.
From what we know, the Amazon Ice will have a 5.2-inch or 5.5-inch screen and will include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chip, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 13-megapixel camera, a fingerprint sensor on the back, Android 7.1.1 with Google Assistant support.
What we did find surprising, is that the new Ice smartphone may not include Amazon’s Alexa. This could however change once official confirmation is received from Amazon.
If you’re in the market for a cheap smartphone, the Amazon Ice will retail at around $93. We don’t know when the device is likely to be launched or whether it will be available in markets other than India. We do know that Amazon intends to launch at least one phone in India this year and if it is the Ice, here’s what customers can expect.
Fire To Ice – What To Expect
Below are some of the reasons why we think the new Amazon Ice phone will do well. There are a number of different aspects that we have looked at, and here are our findings.
Alexa: AI and voice assistants have become increasingly common in phones and it makes sense that Amazon will make use of Alexa and it’s integration capabilities. If you use Alexa at home, you’ll want to be able to use it when you’re out and about too. Alexa’s voice control could work really well on mobile devices and we expect to see it integrated.
India has a huge market: The rumors suggest that the Amazon Ice phone will launch quickly in India and the fact the device isn’t high end, it will appeal to those looking for a low-cost smartphone. Amazon may have a huge US and European market, but the market in India consists of more than a billion people over the age of seven and that in itself is more than the US and Europe combined.
Taking Away Amazon Exclusivity: The biggest mistake Amazon did with the Fire phone was to restrict access to the Google Play app store. Anyone with an Android device will be familiar with the Google Play store and will have their own apps and games. The Fire phone was an Android device but it didn’t have the all-important Google services.
The rumors suggest that the new Ice phone will run on Android and not Amazon’s Fire OS. Customers will have access to the Amazon app store and the Google Play store. This is great news for gamers and online gambling fans who will now be able to access their favorite online casino apps including No deposit bonuses at the online-casinos.ca, download their favorite games and more.
Amazon is doing what customers want: It seems that Amazon are getting to know what their customers want and need. They know their customers want value for money and anyone spending high amounts will do so on Apple devices such as the iPhone or iPad, or the high end Samsung Android devices.
With Amazon they seem to be looking at the bigger picture of selling cheap and making more money on shopping. If we look at Prime for example, customers who opt for the yearly subscription get faster shipping and they are spending more money on Amazon that those who don’t use Prime.
While the Amazon Ice phone will be retailing at a cheap price, it will be perfect for up to 80% of users and cheap enough for most people to buy it.
Amazon Ice Phone Release Date & Price
According to trustedreviews.com, there is no specific date or offical confirmation about Amazon ice smartphone. But according to them, some reports says that it will soon launched in India later this year,
Ice smartphone by amazon will be priced around 6000 rupees in India that is roughly $95 according to report.
From what we can gather from the rumors and reports that are circulating, Amazon learns from its mistakes and looks at converting them into successes. There was a large cost involved with the failure of the Fire phone, but Amazon now knows what worked and what didn’t. They have used this intel to create a far superior phone that will appeal to their target market.
We can expect the Ice phone to sort out any problems that existed with the Fire phone. It will be reasonably priced, users will have access to all the Android feature they are used to as well as access to the Amazon app store too. Handsets on the lower end of the market will have severe competition when the Ice launches, but for Apple and Samsung, we don’t think it will cause much of a problem.
